The company – based in Darlington – will receive the Order of Distinction Award in the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2016.  The highly acclaimed award comes in recognition of 16 consecutive Gold awards for the Teesside company since it started entering the prestigious annual scheme in 2000.

At an awards ceremony – to be held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel in July – the product manufacturing business will be recognised for its achievement in delivering consistently outstanding occupational health and management systems as well as best practice leadership and workforce engagement.

The award for the Darlington business will also coincide with a diamond anniversary for RoSPA as the awards celebrate 60 years of presenting highly-regarded and sought after accolades to businesses and organisations which have shown an outstanding commitment to accident and ill-health prevention.

Speaking about the prestigious award, Marshall Garner, CEO of Mech-Tool Engineering Limited said:

“To receive the RoSPA Order of Distinction is a real testament to the huge importance Mech-Tool Engineering places on its delivery of health and safety processes. For this award to also come on the back of other recent national accolades is a real demonstration of the consistent hard work and commitment of the whole Mech-Tool Engineering team.”

The RoSPA scheme – which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas – awards Orders of Distinction only to those organisations that have sustained the highest, gold standard, for a number of consecutive years.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “To win an award at such a highly-regarded event as the RoSPA Awards is a great achievement for our winners. It recognises their commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to. We offer them our congratulations.

“This year is doubly special for our winners with their achievements being recognised as we celebrate our diamond anniversary. This is a ringing endorsement of the thousands of businesses and organisations that have committed to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention.”
