Merit Achieves Record Performance Growth

Merit Holdings, the Cramlington based engineering and construction specialist, has achieved another record year of growth, increasing turnover and profit by 49% and 163% respectively.

The company returned a turnover of £47.3 million to March 2018 against a figure of £31.7 million in the previous year and profitability increased from £1.1 million to £2.9 million.

The stellar performance is a result of continued success in contract awards from new and existing clients, along with a drive to optimise quality and efficiency across the company. Last year the business was also awarded ‘company of the year’ at the 2018 North East Business Awards.

Tony Wells, Managing Director, Merit Holdings, said: “The record success of the business in the last year is testament to the commitment and hard work of everyone in the company.  Our teams are experts in their field and focus on delivering the highest quality work for clients on time and budget. This is reflected in the growth in new business, but particularly also in the considerable volume of repeat work that comes from existing clients.

“In recent years we have focused on optimising our business processes across the organisation and improving efficiencies that enhance quality and service. We continue to invest in skills development and trading to maintain the highest standards in every area of operations.”

Merit specialises in the design and build of clean rooms, process pipework, mechanical and electrical engineering, controls and instrumentation, as well as bespoke civil construction and project management. The company’s expertise is recognised across a range of sectors, including healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, semiconductor, energy and waste to energy.

Merit operates from its headquarters and specialist fabrication facility in Cramlington, Northumberland, with additional offices in Glasgow and London and its own in house team of designers, fitters and electricians who are specially trained to meet the high standards of heavily regulated industries where quality of workmanship is vital.
