Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Middlesbrough business surgery to support SME growth

Tees Valley Business Compass and Middlesbrough Council are holding a free business event, on the 19th October, to support the growth of new and established businesses.

Held in the Legends Lounge at the Riverside Stadium, the Middlesbrough Business Growth Surgery will help businesses with fewer than 250 employees, and a turnover of less than £50 million, identify growth potential with leading business experts.

Organisations partnering with the event and offering advice include Clive Owen, BE Group, UK Steel Enterprise, RTC North, TEDCO, Digital City and the Department of International Trade.

Companies hoping to attend the event can sign up for multiple, one-on-one, 30-minute sessions on how to access information and guidance on funding opportunities and financial advice, improving current business technologies, apprenticeships and skills training, supply chain development, exporting and how to win business.

Tees Valley Business Compass is the local growth hub delivered by BE Group on behalf of Tees Valley Combined Authority. The growth hub has received £9,520,000 of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund, as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme.

Shak Asghar, Growth Service Manager at Tees Valley Business Compass, said: “We’ve had a great response from the turnout of local businesses at our events this past year, which is demonstrating the value of the support and information that companies can access through the hub.

“There are so many businesses across Tees Valley that have the potential to deliver impressive growth strategies which can benefit from, for example, additional training advice or access to funding that will take them further forward, and that’s exactly what this event is aiming to achieve.”

Councillor Lewis Young, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Economic Development and Infrastructure, added: “A thriving business community is the lifeblood of the Tees Valley, and events like this have a key role to play in helping us to punch our weight locally, nationally and further afield.

“It’s a golden opportunity to make contacts and share knowledge that can help enterprises move on to the next level, creating the jobs and prosperity that will ensure we can look to the future with confidence.”
