Screen Shot 2015-07-30 at 15.12.49PARALYMPIC gold medallist Josef Craig is set to make a splash as Miller Homes welcome him as the North East guest judge of its annual Summer of Sport competition.

The Paralympic swimmer who represented Great Britain in the London 2012 Paralympic Games, winning a gold medal in the 400 metre freestyle, will help the leading housebuilder judge this year’s entries.

Miller Homes’ Summer of Sport competition is offering local sports clubs the chance to win £500 or, for the first time, pick up a top prize of £1,000, all in aid of promoting fitness within its communities.

To take part, entrants have to say in no more than 200 words why their sports club is worthy of winning, how the money will benefit their club and what it will be spent on. Entry forms can be picked up at any one of Miller Homes’ marketing suites across the region.

Josef said: “It’s great to see that Miller Homes is passionate about supporting grassroots sports teams and clubs, generously donating funds which will be much-needed and appreciated by the worthy winner.

“I’m proud to be helping to judge this year’s competition and would urge any local sports club or team to pick up an entry form today. As I have been involved in local sports clubs for many years I understand that funding like this really does go a long way.”

Andrew Somerville, Miller Homes North East’s regional sales manager, said: “We’re really pleased to announce that Paralympic gold medallist Josef Craig is our region’s guest judge for this year’s Summer of Sport competition. It is great to have the involvement of such a talented young North East athlete.

“We’re always keen to invest in our communities and provide opportunities for education, sport or development, so it’s great to welcome the competition back for its fourth consecutive year, giving local sports clubs and teams the chance to benefit from a cash boost. The competition closes at the end of August so I would urge anyone who is interested to apply now.”
