The North East’s leading law firm for businesses, Muckle LLP, has retained all three of its qualifying solicitors this September.

The three trainees, who have been with Newcastle based Muckle for the last two years, have taken up roles in different teams across the firm from September 1st

Henry Mullen, Beth Turner and Tom Justice have gained a wide range of experience in a variety of legal practice areas since starting their training contracts in 2014. Their hard work and dedication has now been recognised and Muckle is now able to offer permanent positions to all three.

Beth has joined Muckle’s Real Estate team, Henry is working in Dispute Resolution and Tom has started his career in a new role across the Commercial and Employment teams with a specific focus on the education sector.

Henry, from Kent, studied History at Newcastle University before completing a law conversion at Northumbria University. He said: “I’ve really enjoyed working here, the people are fantastic and it’s such a great place to work. The range of work I’ve been involved with has been really good and I’ve learnt so much already.

“One of the things that attracted me to Muckle was the investment and value they place in people. My colleagues are great to work with and I know I will be able to learn from their breadth of experience going forward.”

Beth, from Newcastle, graduated from University College London with an Anthropology degree. After travelling for a year, she returned to her home region to do the Graduate Diploma in Law at Northumbria University. She worked as a paralegal at another firm before starting her training contract at Muckle.

She said: “I’m really pleased to be joining Muckle’s Real Estate team. This was my first placement during my training and I found I was given responsibility from the start. I was able to take on my own files under supervision which was challenging but also really rewarding.

“Muckle stood out for me against other law firms, both in the North East and in London, because it really is about the culture and the people. As a team, everyone works really well together and it’s easy to ask questions, which is important as a trainee.”

Tom, from Hull, also did a law conversion course at Northumbria University following completion of an English degree at the University of Hull. He said: “Compared to other law firms, Muckle is completely different in the way it operates and this is the reason I knew it was where I wanted to be.  Everybody here behaves the same way – whether they’re a partner or a trainee – and you’re given more responsibility from the outset. I’m really looking forward to becoming a permanent member of the Muckle team.”

Jason Wainwright, Managing Partner at Muckle, said: “We’re thrilled to retain all three of our trainee solicitors this year. We have been very impressed with their positive attitudes during their time with us so far. They all work hard and fit within the culture we are striving to achieve as a business so we’re pleased to be able to welcome them to the team permanently.

“We’re committed to investing in our people through all stages of their career and I look forward to seeing all of our newly qualified solicitors develop within their new roles at Muckle.”

Muckle LLP is a leading commercial law firm for businesses, based in Newcastle upon Tyne.  The firm employ 150 people, including 28 partners, and a turnover of £11.4m.  It was recently voted Regional Law Firm of the Year at the Solicitors’ Journal Awards and is a three times winner of the Heart of the Community Award for Northumberland and Tyneside region.
