A MUSICAL inclusion service for young people living in challenging circumstances on Teesside is celebrating its second birthday.
A special event has been organised by musinc to mark the occasion on Monday, October 27, at MyPlace in Middlesbrough, which will highlight some of the service’s successes.
musinc works with musicians, music and arts groups and youth organisations across the region to commission music activities and is one of 26 similar Youth Music-funded projects in England.
The celebration event will bring together invited musicians and key partners and will be addressed by Kathryn Deane, Director of Sound Sense, the national community music organisation.
She will sepak on the practice of musical inclusion which aims to ensure that opportunities exist for children and young people in challenging circumstances to access and progress through high-quality music making.
The afternoon will end with the launch of a series of films showing local musicians engaged in musinc projects, which have been created for musinc by Middlesbrough film maker Laura Degnan.
The musinc project is hosted by Middlesbrough Council on behalf of the four Teesside local authorities.
Gwyneth Lamb, musinc Development Officer said: “We are delighted to be celebrating our second birthday by welcoming our guest speaker Kathryn Deane of Sound Sense and we are excited to be able to launch the films showcasing the fantastic work that is being undertaken with young people in Teesside by our musicians.”
