Screen Shot 2016-03-03 at 15.36.13Tyne Theatre & Opera House are thrilled to welcome Irish country music star Nathan Carter and his band to our stage on Saturday 17th September.

A huge attraction on the Irish music scene, Nathan has brought a whole new generation of fans of all ages to country music in Ireland, and is now set to win over the hearts of the people of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Born on 28th May 1990, Nathan spent his childhood years in Liverpool, England, and grew up in a family with strong Irish roots, his folks originating from Newry in County Down. It seems like Nathan was just born to perform, because even at the tender age of four, he began to learn to play the accordion, and in a few short years he had become a head chorister in the Liverpool boys’ choir, touring the world and even singing for the Pope in Rome!

Trips to Ireland to compete in Fleadh Ceoil`s became a regular feature of young Nathan’s life during his early teens, resulting in All Ireland medals for solo singing, and in accordion, all at just 12 years of age.

Nathan soon became a member of the Liverpool Ceili band, playing piano accordion and piano, and in no time at all Nathan had begun to play solo gigs around Liverpool and London, with occasional shows in Ireland.

On a trip to Donegal in April 2009 where Nathan was appearing at a concert in Buncrana, he met with songwriter John Farry, who was hugely impressed with Nathan’s performance, and in a few short months Nathan’s dream of performing with his own band became a reality.

Aged just 25, Nathan has seven studio albums, three live albums and three live DVD’s under his belt. Wagon Wheel, the single taken from the album of the same name (and a Bob Dylan cover) is one of Nathan’s biggest hits to date, with over a million views on Youtube, and the wheels continue to roll for this special song, which can now be heard in clubs, discos, and dancehalls alike and on all major National Irish radio stations. Nathan’s most recent album, Beautiful Life, reached the coveted No. 1 position in the Irish Charts.

With his golden voice and infectious tunes, Nathan will no doubt have people dancing in the aisles of the Tyne Theatre & Opera House auditorium.
