National Picnic Week for elderly, children and teddy bears

A TEDDY bears picnic took place at a Teesside care home when children and elderly residents marked National Picnic Week.

The three to four year old youngsters were visiting The Beeches Care Home, on Green Lane, Stockton-on-Tees, for a regular intergenerational fitness session, called Funky Feet.

After they finished dancing and playing games, they all shared a packed lunch and teddy bear themed cupcakes made by the home’s chef, Sophie Henderson.

The children, joined by childminders and parents, sat on blankets alongside residents in the home’s lounge.

Jessica Roth, activities coordinator at The Beeches Care Home, said: “The children really enjoyed the Funky Feet session and everyone, including the residents, was singing along to Wind The Bobbin Up and Jelly On A Plate. There was lots of energy in the lounge this morning.

“After the session everyone sat down with their favourite teddy to enjoy the picnic, as part of National Picnic Week. The boys and girls made sure even the teddy bears enjoyed the yummy snacks and a drink of juice.”
