Alternatively, if you don’t fancy mixing up your own Piña Coladas, why not check out Dan Priseman’s new Stillwater Bar in Wandsworth.
Address:  206 Trinity Rd, London SW17 7HP

The bar is serving a delicious Piña Colada Old Fashioned cocktail made with spiced pineapple syrup, Aluna Coconut, pineapple infused rum, angostura bitters and a toasted coconut garnish.

Piña Colada literally means ‘strained pineapple’, a reference to the freshly pressed and strained pineapple juice used in the drink.

There are different claims to the invention of the Piña Colada beginning in 1952 in San Juan, each sticking to their story.  The truth is that pineapple and rum have been together from the beginning of the distillation of rum. The first written reference to a Piña Colada was in 1922. This recipe, however, did not include coconut.

Aluna Coconut is a sublime blend of rums from Guatemala and the Caribbean, with all-natural toasted coconut flavours. Aluna contains only a fraction of the sugar found in competitor brands and is made with virgin sugar cane ‘honey’ (miel de caña) for a lighter and smoother rum with a natural subtle sweetness. All natural, lightly toasted coconut flavours give a delicious new taste dimension to the rum and the addition of coconut water adds an amazingly smooth and clean coconut finish.
Aluna Coconut is available in all Harvey Nichols stores nationwide and online at 31Dover.comRRP: £24.95 (70cl) ABV: 35%
