Netflix Film 6 UNDERGROUND by Michael Bay, starring Ryan Reynolds – Start of Principle Photography in the United Arab Emirates

NETFLIX AND SKYDANCE ANNOUNCE ORIGINAL ACTION MOVIE, 6 UNDERGROUND,

HELMED BY MICHAEL BAY, AND STARRING RYAN REYNOLDS, COMMENCES PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Abu Dhabi, UAE, November 8, 2018 — Netflix, the world’s leading internet entertainment service, and Skydance Media, the global diversified media company that creates premium, event-level entertainment for worldwide audiences, in association with Bay Films, announces the start of principal photography in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates on November 9, 2018 on action film 6 Underground. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Mélanie Laurent, Corey Hawkins, Adria Arjona, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Ben Hardy, Lior Raz, Payman Maadi and Dave Franco, and is directed by Michael Bay.

In their first collaboration ever, Netflix and Skydance partner to produce an event level feature film and the first Netflix project for both Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds.

Director Michael Bay is known for fast and spectacular action. With 6 Underground, he returns to old-school action and character-driven spectacle of his first box office hits Bad Boys and The Rock. The film is a fun, edgy thriller set against the picturesque backdrop of Italy and the spectacular vistas and natural wonders found throughout the United Arab Emirates.  From modern, state-of-the-art architecture to some of the oldest neighbourhoods, the film will capture the beauty of the country’s pristine beaches, tranquil desert landscapes and venerable historic sites with scenes shot in Abu Dhabi, Liwa, Al Hamra, Sharjah and Al Ain.

 

The film is being produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger, along with Bay and Ian Bryce, and was written by Deadpoolscribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.  Garrett Grant (line producer) and Matthew Cohan (Bay’s EP designee) executive produce, with JJ Hook, Michael Kase, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Marco Valerio Pugini co-producing.  The production team also includes director of photography Bojan Bazelli; production designer Jeffrey Beecroft; editors Roger Barton, William Goldenberg, and Calvin Wimmer; stunt coordinators Greg Smrz and Kenny Bates; fight coordinator Andy Cheng; special effects supervisor Terry Glass; visual effects supervisor Richard Hoover; and costume designer Jany Temime.
