Lorraine Hodgson from the Richmondshire Independents was elected to fill the vacancy in the Richmond Central ward on Thursday (31 March), polling 236 votes.

She beat Nathalie Carter (Conservative) who polled 156 votes; Anna Jackson (Green Party) who polled 77; and Philip Knowles (Liberal Democrats) who polled 205.

The election was prompted by the death of John Robinson earlier this year.
