RONDEAN Ltd is benefiting from continued growth which has seen it expand into a second unit on the Drum Industrial Estate in Chester-Le-Street with the help of Gordon Brown Law Firm LLP (GBLF).

The machinery supplier has acquired a second unit of 3,000 sq. ft. at the industrial estate, which will accommodate a forthcoming recruitment drive – with up to 12 new members of staff expected to be recruited this year, Rondean Ltd is currently looking to appoint an operations manager, machine tool fitters, sales and support staff.

After originally relocating the business to the site in December 2016 from Tanfield Lea, with the assistance of GBLF’s corporate and commercial team, this latest move, again assisted by GBLF, will provide the company with a total of 11,000 sq. ft. of operating space and to house stock across its two units.

Established in 1984 by Ron Lewis, Rondean Ltd sells high quality refurbished machine tools to engineering, sheet metal and woodworking companies with a specific focus on machinery designed and built in the UK. Demand for this machinery, which could date as far back as the 1980s, is high after a recent influx in production of inferior foreign built machinery, which often needs to be replaced within a couple of years.

Ron Lewis, managing director at Rondean Ltd, said: “The expansion into a second unit in Chester-Le-Street allows us to continue our growth plans and recruitment of further new staff.

“At Rondean Ltd we have a policy of only providing customers with truly exceptional products – this keeps us well ahead of the game and ensures that the North East has the best machinery available. We are very proud of the fact that during our 32-year history we have never had to take one machine back.

“I have worked with GBLF and Gordon Brown himself for over 25 years – he has assisted us with four industrial premises acquisitions, as well as various leases, and a very tricky disposal negotiation. In 1995 the team was able to help me save nearly £7,000 a year for the next five years after we received an unfair rent-review. Working with GBLF is like calling up an old friend for some advice and getting the very best of it. I have recommended the team to many of our clients, as well as friends and family.”

Gordon Brown, consultant at GBLF, added: “One of the great joys of having been in practice for nearly four decades is the opportunity to forge close relationships with clients, such as the one I have with Ron, and to be asked to bring to bear a commercial judgement, as well as a legal opinion, whether for business or personal needs. It’s always great to be asked to play a part in his ongoing success, and to see his company doing so well.

“While the move from Tanfield Lea was protracted due to complex negotiations with the freehold owner, it has worked out well for Rondean Ltd as the company is now in a much better location for the business, just over a mile away from the A1. The new premises will also allow the company to implement its strategic growth plans and welcome new staff on board.”

GBLF’s corporate and commercial team work with clients locally, nationally and globally on a wide variety of transactions. For further details on GBLF and its services call 0191 388 1778 or visit www.gblf.co.uk.
