North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

New home for conveyancing firm

A conveyancing firm has made a move of its own after expanding into new offices.

Grey-Smith Legal, which opened its first office in Saltburn, North Yorkshire, in 2020, has now opened a County Durham branch in Spennymoor, to capitalise on its growing success.

The new site is based at Enterprise House, on the Durham Gate development, chosen for its transport links to the rest of the region.

Legal director Jo Grey said: “We were quickly outgrowing our original office and wanted to ensure we had space for further growth in an additional location, as well as expanding our reach across the North East.

“The new Durham Gate area has fantastic connections to the A1 allowing easy access for our clients, but we’re also hoping that it will allow us to attract top talent from around the area too.

“We are eager to continue building the Grey-Smith Legal team and we know that our office locations will have a big part to play in this.”

The firm currently has ten members of staff, including four board directors, with plans to increase this to at least 15 by the end of the year.

Jo added: “This new office is just a stepping stone on our way to further expansion across the North, and we have plans for a new, larger office in the early part of 2023. We expect to sign off plans for this in the coming months, and this will give us space for rapid growth in 2023 and beyond.”

Grey-Smith Legal is part of The SDDE Smith Group, which owns a portfolio of property-based businesses, including holiday rentals, interior design and building contractors.

Group CEO Dale Smith said: “We’re excited at the rapid expansion of Grey-Smith Legal since its inception in 2020, and we are confident that it will play a significant role in the continued growth and development of The SDDE Smith Group.

“It not only provides an excellent service to external clients, but also provides counsel to our group businesses, which is essential today and will become even more so into the future.”
