New Homeports in North East for Thomson Cruises’ TUI Discovery

Thomson Cruises has announced that its award-winning ship TUI Discovery, which joined the fleet in summer 2016, will be based in the UK for the first time, moving to new homeport Port of Tyne near Newcastle from May 2018. The move is the latest step Thomson Cruises has taken following its pledge to position choice and flexibility at its heart.

TUI Discovery will visit the Norwegian fjords and a variety of exciting cities including Stockholm, Sweden; Tallinn, Estonia and Reykjavik, Iceland. Passengers sailing on these Baltic cruises can also make use of their time in the region with an overnight on board stay in St Petersburg, Russia.

Managing Director of Thomson Cruises, Richard Sofer, said: “We’re excited to have TUI Discovery based in the UK for the first time and Port of Tyne is the ideal base to explore all that northern Europe has to offer. This move will offer our customers more flexibility and choice and with the variety of new itineraries on offer visiting exciting new destinations has never been easier.”
