NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM AT WASHINGTON FC – LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

Washington Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of James Clark and Michael Laws as their new Management Team.

Originally James & Michael joined the club under previous Manager Richie Latimer. Clark as Assistant Manager and Laws as Player/Coach. The 6 games under Richie’s management brought 3 wins and 3 losses, but much work was also done to remodel the team and formulate a strategy for the future.

Unfortunately, due to work commitments and personal circumstances Richie had to resign from his post, but strongly recommended his colleagues James & Michael to build on the strong foundations and carry on the good work.

While Washington currently lie 18th in the table, and are surely in the thick of a relegation battle, the club has every confidence in the new management team. Club Chairman Derek Armstrong added “I have been impressed by the professional attitude of both the lads, and their commitment to moving the club forward both on and off the pitch”.

Prior to joining the club, Clark had recent Ebac Northern League experience as a coach at Whitley Bay. He is also involved with Sport Equipment Company Locust, and as a Consultant with Football Agency Cayalyst4Soccer. Laws has a wealth of experience playing in the Ebac Northern League, most notably as part of the Spennymoor Town side that won 3 League titles in 4 years.

Commenting on their appointment Clark & Laws stated “We were initially shocked by Richie’s departure but are grateful to the club for the opportunity to continue the work we planned. We both have a very clear vision of how to take the club forward, but realise the short-term priority is safety. We have a strong core of players in the squad and it’s a case of being selective to compliment what is already there. We are fortunate to have inherited some very good players and using our networks we hope that we can add the right quality of player to build a quick, strong, athletic squad that will challenge in every game. We will make decisions off the field together and will not let anyone down”

Clark added “My involvement with Catalyst4Soccer gives me the opportunity to see many talented young players in action, and I hope to announce in the near future some new young additions to the Washington squad”
