Ryedale’s new Visitor Information Point is up and running at Morlands Newsagents in Pickering.
Following the closure of the Pickering Tourist Information Centre, the new information point has been established in the Market Place and is full of information on attractions, accommodation and events for local people and visitors to the area. Free Wi Fi provision enables visitors to access www.VisitRyedale.co.uk for even more information and to make bookings. Staff at the Visitor Information Point at Morlands will also sell tickets for local attractions in addition to providing information.
Deeps and Mo, Managers of Morlands Newsagents said: “Many of our customers ask about local tourist attractions and things to do, so having the VIP in the shop helps us to point them in the right direction straight away. Pickering is a popular town and we want to share its treasures with all our visitors.”
Ryedale District Council Leader Cllr Linda Cowling said: “The shop is part of the social fabric of the town for residents and visitors alike. It’s also got excellent opening times throughout the week and Deeps and his team will do a great job for local businesses, promoting Pickering and Ryedale to our visitors. We look forward to working together.”
Pedestrian footfall at Morlands is already said to have increased as a result of the addition of the information point and sales of RDC Parking Permits has also increased.
The VIP is open 7 days a week from 05.00am to 5.30pm on Monday to Saturday and 5am to 12.30pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays. (Closed Christmas Day). WWW.visitRyedale.co.uk website contains listings of all accommodation, events and attractions in the area and an online booking facility.
The new facility at Morlands joins the two Visitor Information Points in Ryedale, one at The Cut Price Bookstore in Helmsley and the other at Ryedale District Council offices in Malton.
