North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Durham Regatta kicks off the New Year with the launch of their new website.

Durham Regatta is a mainstay of County Durham life. Each year, it attracts thousands of competitors and over 10,000 spectators who enjoy the racing, food, games, music and other bankside entertainment.

Durham Regatta is one of the oldest rowing regattas in the country, and ranks alongside Henley for head to head racing in an iconic setting. In recent years, it has become much more than a rowing competition. The Regatta is now an event for the whole family. The line up for this year includes face painting, brass bands, a classic car rally, juggling, games and a host of other activities.

To make the event more accessible to visitors from across the North East and further afield, Durham Regatta is launching a new website.

Andy Jaggard, Durham Regatta’s Press Officer, explained, “We have been aware for some time that we could do a better job of promoting the regatta. Most people only know that Durham Regatta is near when the commentary box appears on Bath’s Bridge. We want to respond to the growing numbers of visitors by providing a fresh new website for competitors, visitors and sponsors. The Regatta is for all of County Durham, and we want more people to enjoy a summer’s day out at the Regatta.”

Daniel Roe, chief executive of business writing company Concision, who oversaw the relaunch, added, ‘As a local business, we were delighted to sponsor Durham Regatta. It is not just a national event, it’s a sporting institution in Durham and a great weekend for the whole family.’

Michelle Gorman, managing director of Visit County Durham, said: “It’s fantastic to see this new site promoting such a unique event in the county’s annual calendar, alongside other experiences visitors can enjoy to encourage them to stay longer in Durham. We look forward to welcoming crews and spectators alike.”

This year’s Durham Regatta will take place 10-11 June, 2017. For more details, visit http://durham-regatta.org.uk.
