As part of a £10m investment programme across the business, Newcastle Building Society has been creating a range of new roles, including in its Product Administration, IT, HR, Credit Risk, and Treasury departments.

The 100th new recruit is Jessica Graham, who has joined the Society’s award-winning Newcastle Strategic Solutions subsidiary, which delivers online savings management services for a range of banks and other financial institutions, as a senior customer service advisor.

Jessica, who is from Wallsend, is based at the Society’s Cobalt Business Park offices in North Tyneside, and is combining a range of administrative and customer service duties in her new role.

Jessica says: “I’ve always worked in customer-facing roles predominantly within the hotel industry and wanted to maintain that personal contact in a new position, something that taking up this role with the Society will allow me to do.

“I’ve had lots of useful training to help me prepare for being part of the Solutions team, and all the new recruits are already working together really well.

“I was impressed with the importance that the Society places on the communities in which we work, which tallies well with my own feelings, and also with the opportunities that it provides for developing my career in the future – it’s all been brilliant so far and I’m excited about what’s to come.”
Newcastle Building Society has invested £10m in the way in which it delivers its services to customers, with improvements to its branch network, telephone and digital offering, and operational infrastructure.
Key elements of the investment programme include two new, purpose-built branch-based Financial Advice Centres in central Newcastle, a new signature branch in Gateshead‘s Trinity Square development, and a unique community-based branch partnership in the newly-refurbished Yarm library.  These latest recruits take the Society’s total number of employees across the region to more than 1,000.
Andrew Haigh, chief executive at Newcastle Building Society, said: “We made a commitment at the start of the year to create 100 new jobs across our operations as part of continually improving the way in which we deliver the services our customers want.
“We’ve strengthened our ranks with some highly skilled recruits, from senior executives to graduates, and branch team members.  What they have in common is a combination of highly effective skills and personal qualities that make them a great fit for our organisation.
“We want local people to take advantage of the opportunities we offer for a professionally and personally fulfilling role within Newcastle Building Society and its subsidiaries.  Our plan is for more new jobs to follow during 2017 as we continue plan for growth and to making a long term contribution to the economy and communities of our North East heartland.”
