Penny Marshall, Regional Director of the Institution of Civil Engineers said: “The growth opportunity for the North of England is huge, and we have seen a number of positive developments which take the vision another step towards reality. There is however still much to be done to enable the North to look, feel and operate as a single economic powerhouse, which can compete internationally. Collaboration sits right at the heart of this, and the news that Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield have committed to working together to meet their shared objectives and drive change, is exactly the sort of determination needed.”
