One of Newcastle’s fastest growing IT firms is getting on its bike in support of a local cycling club, reinforcing the commitment to its own cycle-to-work scheme.Calibre Secured Networks Ltd, which provides ICT solutions for clients across the UK and Europe from its offices in The Core at Science Central, has announced a new sponsorship deal with North Tyneside Riders (NTR), which has 145 members.
The move will enable the NTR, whose members are a mix of those cycling to get fit alongside like-minded people to those who compete in organised events across the region, to invest in improving the quality of coaching and training.
The club is looking to open its doors to children for the first time from May and the investment will help to train staff in welfare care and safeguarding their participation.
NTR’s committee representative Andy-Amos Adams, said: “We aim to make all cyclists feel welcome and comfortable, whether they like to tootle along chatting away or race the clock.
“With the generous help of Calibre’s sponsorship, we are now able to increase our coaching team and invite children from age four upwards for the very first time into the club, and begin their adventures the right way, with valuable training and guidance.”
Calibre’s Steve and Karen Nelson, who are both keen cyclists, saw an opportunity to help their local cycling club.
Karen Nelson said: “We wanted to promote safe cycling, which supports our own cycle to work scheme. We are passionate about promoting a healthy, happy workforce and this ticks the right boxes.
“Steve and I wanted to give back to the club, which not only has enabled us to make new friends but has also opened our eyes wider to the benefits of cycling as way to a more productive and positive attitude to work.”
