THE sky is the limit at Cairn Group-owned hotel, DoubleTree by Hilton Newcastle Airport, following the appointment of a new general manager.

Bringing over 20 years’ experience of working in hotels to his new role, Andrew Glover joins the business at an exciting time leading on from its positive start to the year.

Capitalising on the influx of customers in the area as a result of the recent increase in routes from Newcastle International Airport and rise in passenger numbers, which last month saw the airport welcome its 1millionth flyer in 2017, sustained growth will be a priority for Andrew.

In addition, the 45-year-old from Seaton Sluice will oversee the general running of the hotel, ensuring customer expectations are both met and exceeded, as well as working closely with his new team to continue to raise the hotel’s profile as a destination for business travellers, tourists and local guests alike.

Expanding on the hotel’s food and beverage offering and conferencing and events arm will also form an important part of Andrew’s new role.

Andrew said: “From an early age I have had a passion for the hospitality industry and to be working for a globally-recognised brand like Hilton under Cairn Group is extremely exciting. I love to travel, so to be based so close to Newcastle International Airport welcoming guests from all over the world is perfectly suited to me.

“The company’s philosophy, vision for its people and plans for the future really appealed to me, and I’m pleased to be a part of it. Drawing on my experience and taking inspiration from my time in the industry, I’m looking forward to making my mark on the hotel.”

Commenting on Andrew’s appointment, Cairn Group HR director Richard Adams added: “Andrew’s knowledge of the industry, impressive experience and sheer passion proved to be priceless qualities and we are very excited to have him on board, leading the team at DoubleTree by Hilton at Newcastle Airport. It’s great to be working together and to see how well he has already settled into his new role.”

DoubleTree by Hilton at Newcastle Airport, owned by North East-headquartered Cairn Group, is located just steps away from Newcastle International Airport.

The hotel offers guests a 4* experience, with 179 bedrooms which all come complete with WI-FI, flexible desk, 37-inch LCD TV and king-sized bed, as well as sound-proofed windows.

A total of eight meeting and functions rooms are available for conferences, weddings and events, and can accommodate parties of up to 150 guests.
