Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Newcastle pupils see the sights after winning design competition

Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 16.26.23Over 60 pupils from a Newcastle school enjoyed a sightseeing tour around the iconic landmarks of Newcastle and Gateshead after winning a design-a-bus competition with Stagecoach North East.

As part of Catch the Bus Week, the youngsters from Ravenswood Primary School in Heaton took part in a competition to design their own special bus, with the best designs made up into posters and displayed on buses across the whole of the north east.

Three winning designs were chosen by the local bus operator, and as a prize, the class also won the chance to take a trip on the City Sightseeing bus.

Anahita Rezaei Gomari, Joseph Barnes, and Lois Liu, all aged 6, impressed the team with their ‘perfect’ buses, and thoroughly enjoyed their prize visit to all the main sights around Newcastle and Gateshead, including the Millennium Bridge, Tyne Bridge and The Sage.

Anahita was over the moon to have won the competition. She said: “The competition was fun because I got to use lots of bright colours.  The trip on the bus was great because I saw where my Mum and Dad worked!”
