An organisation that helps schools to generate vital additional income by managing their facilities and matching them with local community groups is launching in Newcastle.

School Lettings Solutions, one of the fastest growing sport and leisure companies in the country, partners with schools, academies and colleges to fully manage their facilities at zero cost to the organisation, while linking them with local community groups in need of venues.

The business is expanding across the country and is looking to sign up schools in Newcastle, which are currently facing hundreds of thousands of pounds of funding cuts. Six schools have already signed up.

Through its partnerships, School Lettings Solutions aims to help thousands more community organisations, from sports clubs to theatre schools, access facilities they couldn’t before.

School Lettings Solutions, currently works with over 150 schools nationwide, helping them to make best use of their facilities. They are already working with Northumberland Academy, Heworth Grange School and Kingsmeadow Community School and hope to get many more on their books to provide local communities with better access to sport, education and leisure opportunities on their sites.

Deborah Patterson, business manager at Heworth Grange, said: “After coming across SLS at a conference and meeting with them several times, I was convinced we needed to move to a managed lettings service. The implementation of SLS’ services has been a smooth process, and the staff are easy to work with and quick to react to problems. I feel as if they are part of our own staff.

“SLS has already met the financial target the school set them in the first year, and I have high hopes for next year. They have managed to increase the variety of clubs using our facilities, and that is only improving what we are able to offer the local community.”

Sam Edwards, regional manager for the North East at School Lettings Solutions, said: “Working with our partner schools in the North East has been an exciting journey and we are looking forward to partnering with more schools in the future.

“The benefits of each school opening their facilities across the community is endless, they not only benefit local organisations, clubs and businesses but mean people who may not have a local club to attend are given a chance to.

“If you’re a school or a community group who think you’ll be able to benefit from our partnerships, we look forward to hearing from you!”
