newcastle united largeNewcastle United will entertain Dutch side Vitesse at St. James’ Park in their final pre-season friendly of the summer.

The Eredivisie outfit will come to Tyneside on Saturday, 30th July, for a 3pm kick-off and it will be the Magpies’ only home fixture of their warm-up period for the 2016/17 campaign.

Already confirmed for Rafa Benitez’s first team are friendlies at Bohemian, on Saturday, 16th July (2pm kick-off), and at Doncaster Rovers, on Wednesday, 20th July (7.45pm kick-off).

While further fixtures are still to be announced, United’s preparations for their Sky Bet Championship opener at Fulham on Friday, 5th August will be completed with the visit of Vitesse, who finished ninth in the Dutch top flight last term.

Vitesse are managed by Henk Fraser, who was appointed earlier in June following three years at ADO Den Haag.

In recent seasons, a number of Chelsea youngsters have enjoyed time on loan at the club, including Patrick van Aanholt, who also spent time at Newcastle during the 2009/10 Championship title-winning campaign.
