News from British Basketball League: Delpeche extends contract with Bristol Flyers

Marcus Delpeche has signed a one-year extension with the Bristol Flyers.

The 6’7 forward has now committed to the club until the end of the 2019/20 season.

Delpeche, began his professional career at Grevenbroich Elephants in the fourth tier of German basketball, posting 11.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in his rookie season.
The 24-year-old made the step up to the BBL in March 2018 and played a crucial role in helping the club reach the BBL play-off semi-finals.

Delpeche featured in all 33 games for Coach Kapoulas’ side last season, averaging 7.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, including a season-high 21 points against the Newcastle Eagles.

“I am very pleased to be back in Bristol for another season,” said Delpeche.

“The organisation is very ambitious, the teammates have been great to play with and the community is very enjoyable, so I know that it’ll be another amazing experience.

“When I reflect on on my time with the Flyers thus far, I’m really happy with how far Ive come, but I’m nowhere near satisfied. I’m hungry for more, and I cant wait to begin this journey of a season.”

Prior to joining the Flyers, Delpeche played NCAA Division III basketball at Bates College, where he earned first team all-NESCAC honours in his senior year, finishing eighth in the league in scoring (15.1ppg) and third in the league in rebounds with a career-high 9.7 boards per game.

“We’re very happy to have signed Marcus for his second full season with the club,” added Coach Kapoulas.

“We brought him in to fill our squad during the Commonwealth Games last year and he really proved to be a great fit for us.

“He’s a physical and athletic player, who really stepped up for us in crucial moments last season.

“He will continue to develop in our set-up and I am delighted we can continue to work with him this season.”
