British soul legend Seal has announced UK tour dates for 2018 in support of his tenth studio album, Standards. Backed by a big band, the multi-award winning star will be performing songs from the new album, alongside his classic hits Killer and Kiss from a Rose.
In a career spanning three decades, racking up over 30 million records sales worldwide, and a string of Grammy, Brit and Ivor Novello awards along the way, Seal continues to shine as one of the world’s brightest music stars.
Standards brings the glamour of Old Hollywood straight to the present. It is a natural successor to his series of soul records, made a decade ago which sold over 5 million copies around the world. Standards hears Seal’s signature, velvety warm vocals bring to life classics made popular by Frank Sinatra (Luck Be A Lady, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and It Was A Very Good Year), Ella Fitzgerald (I’m Beginning to See The Light) and Nina Simone (I Put A Spell on You). Elsewhere, there are lush orchestral moments captured on Charlie Chaplin’s Smile and the Cole Porter gem, Love For Sale.

Leveret and National Youth Folk Ensemble
Saturday 17 February, 8pm, Sage Two
Leveret is a unique collaboration between three of England’s finest folk musicians. Andy Cutting, Sam Sweeney and Rob Harbron are each regarded as exceptional performers and masters of their instruments. Together their performances combine consummate musicianship, compelling delivery and captivating spontaneity. Leveret’s music is not arranged in the conventional sense and instead they rely on mutual trust, listening and responding. Their playing is relaxed and natural, drawing audiences in and inviting them to share in music making that is truly spontaneous and yet deeply timeless.
Leveret’s music is firmly rooted in the English tradition but sounds fresh and new. With their albums New Anything and In The Round, and a long string of sell-out gigs, the trio have built a strong reputation as consummate musicians and captivating performers. Now they return with Inventions, a new album of original material that brings Leveret’s trademark groove, energy and intuitive playing to bear on a set of new tunes composed by the trio, three of today’s finest tunesmiths in the folk field.
The National Youth Folk Ensemble launched in October 2016, bringing together talented young folk musicians, aged 14-18 years old, from across England to create and perform inspiring new arrangements of folk music.
Expect modern arrangements of folk tunes from England and beyond, alongside new compositions drawing on traditional music, all created and performed by these rising stars.

Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox
Sunday 18 February, 7.30pm, Sage One
Starting out as the bedroom project of jazz pianist Scott Bradlee and rapidly growing into a viral and real-world sensation, the US group’s vintage-pop mash ups have racked up more than 811 million YouTube views, and brought their rotating roster of top-class session musicians into the limelight.
Imagine marrying the 21st century party vibe of Miley Cyrus or the minimalist angst of Radiohead with the crackly warmth of a vintage 78 or the plunger-muted barrelhouse howl of a forgotten Kansas City jazzman. Bradlee’s choice of material ranges from the ’80s hard rock of Guns N’ Roses to hits as recent as Taylor Swift’s controversial Look What You Made Me Do.
Since first arriving on UK shores in early 2014, Postmodern Jukebox have consistently deepened their commitment to the UK by adding more shows each time they visit, bringing their unique spin on modern pop hits and retro pop stylings to new cities for the first time, while revisiting favourite haunts. Postmodern Jukebox’s debut album, The Essentials, was released to critical acclaim in 2016.
The performers and set lists are never the same but the experience always is. A refreshingly educational, absolutely irresistible, and most important of all, genuinely entertaining show that is not to be missed.
