NIGHTFALL – a new family arts event celebrating Middlesbrough after dark – is set to be launched.

The occasion will begin once the sun has gone down on Friday, October 14, and will mark the beginning of the annual Discover Middlesbrough programme.

For one night only Centre Square will play host to installations and performances with a celestial theme.

Visitors can listen to the stories of the constellations, experience art under canvas in the stargazing tents and book on a night time tour around some of Middlesbrough’s landmark buildings.

Nightfall is an event created by Middlesbrough Council in partnership Stellar Projects and secured with funding from Arts Council England.

Cllr Lewis Young, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, said: “Discover Middlesbrough is a much anticipated staple on the town’s cultural calendar, and one which always offers a variety of events exploring Middlesbrough’s past, present and future.

“Nightfall is a fantastic way of opening Discover Middlesbrough, and offers people the chance to experience Middlesbrough in a different – or rather without – light.

“There will be a wide array of installations and performances as well as visits and tours to some of our town centre landmarks that everyone can enjoy.”
