Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

North East Autism Society to benefit from Future Energy Community Programme

Future Energy is reaffirming its commitment to good causes in the North East through its Community Programme by offering its support to the North East Autism Society (NEAS).

The company has provided an advanced payment of £1,000 to NEAS, to fund equipment for its short break lodges that are currently being constructed. The donation will help to furnish the lodges, which provide vital care and rest for young people and adults diagnosed with autism.

Future Energy has partnered with a range of clubs, charities and community groups to support their work across the region.

The energy supplier was founded with the aim of supporting communities across the North of England and has scoured the region for worthwhile causes to support through its Community Programme.

Customers of Future Energy have the option to support one of the Community Programme partners, with the company donating £20 to the organisation of their choice for every year for up to three years that they are a customer of Future Energy.

The North East Autism Society is a specialist provider of whole life support and services for almost 400 children, young people and adults affected by autism. The organisation works tirelessly to help provide education, employment opportunities and develop the skills of individuals with autism, whilst also providing care and support opportunities for the families of those with an autism diagnosis.

Future Energy is also supporting ‘Choco Charge’, a 5k fun run in Darlington organised by NEAS, which provides participants with a chocolate boost at zones around the track over the course of the Christmas-themed race. It will take place on November 25 from 12pm at South Park in the town.

Sonja Evans, Area Manager at the North East Autism Society, said: “Our short break services are incredibly important to those who access them. They not only provide high quality care to young people and adults with autism, but a break for their families also. Our new lodges are a giant step towards being able to increase our capacity as an organisation. We are delighted that the work we do is being recognised by a company like Future Energy and we could not be happier to be a part of the Community Programme.

“To find locally based companies who really care about making the North East a better place to live is refreshing, which is why we are excited by this partnership with Future Energy, as it shares our passion for supporting people based in the region.”

David Stroud, Managing Director at Future Energy, said: “The North East Autism Society truly is an inspiring organisation that really deserves recognition for its work. It is clear to see that the services it provides are invaluable to those involved, and we are delighted our Community Programme is helping to equip the short break lodges.

“Our Community Programme has been designed to support worthy causes throughout the region, who share our values. Future Energy is always searching for organisations, charities and projects that contribute so greatly to our region. The North East Autism Society massively typifies that and it’s clear to see that their work is so highly valued.

“We are keen for people to see us as not only an energy provider, but as an organisation that is championing communities in our region. This is our way of giving back to an area that we’re proud to be a part of”.

David added: “We are delighted to be showing our support to the Choco Charge fun run, which is set to be a wonderful event for all the family, while raising crucial funds for the North East Autism Society.”
