North East Band Set for Rare Regional Appearance

Screen Shot 2016-05-19 at 15.12.01A funk and soul band, that has already wowed audiences around the UK, is preparing for a rare appearance in its native North East.

The Juggernaut Love Band, based in Newcastle, will take to the stage at Sunniside Live in Sunderland city centre on Saturday July 16.

The one day festival, which is almost doubling its capacity after launching last year, marks a rare regional appearance for the eight-piece group, who regularly perform in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Leeds.

“We always try to save our North East appearances for truly special events,” said Liam Gaughan, bass player for The Juggernaut Love Band.  “We are delighted to have been asked to be a part of Sunniside Live’s killer line-up and look forward to performing for a wonderful crowd.”

The Juggernaut Love Band, who perform a unique mix of jazz, soul, funk and disco, will be joined at Sunniside Live by festival headliners, The Brand New Heavies, as well as North East group Smoove & Turrell and special guests Alison Limerick and Shola Ama.

The event, which runs from noon until 10pm, is being organised by Helen Davies and Sean Maddison, owners of leisure outlets Bar Justice and Gin & Bear It, with support from Sunderland BID.

Ken Dunbar, Chief Executive of Sunderland BID, said: “There is a real buzz surrounding Sunniside Live 2016 and I’m delighted that The Juggernaut Love Band have agreed to be a part of it.”

Tickets for Sunniside Live 2016, priced at £10 per person, are available now at www.sunnisidelive.co.uk or direct from Bar Justice or Gin & Bear It, Sunderland.
