A Newcastle woman, who used lockdown as the springboard for a new career, has been named as a finalist in the UK’s most prestigious beauty awards.

Margeaux Hamilton, from Benton, decided while stuck at home during the pandemic that it was time to change direction and indulge her passion for beauty therapy.

She trained in applying lashes and also in creating perfect eyebrows, eventually moving into premises at Carliol Studios in Newcastle city centre.

And now her skills and services have been recognised, as she has made it to the finals of the national Hair and Beauty Awards.

Margeaux has been recognised in the Last Stylist of the Year category, after presenting images of her work and going through an in-depth interview about her business.

The awards were set up to celebrate the hair and beauty industry and to help promote people across the UK that work in this fast-growing sector.

“I was absolutely stunned to find that I was a national finalist,” said Margeaux.

“There is so much competition and so many good people out there that I can’t believe I’ve been nominated in the very first year I applied.

“I love my job so much and to have got this far in the awards in just amazing.”

The winners will be announced at a special ceremony in Birmingham in April, hosted by former Blue singer turned actor, Duncan James.
