LEADING North East construction firm Miller UK is urging the region’s businesses to attend a free event offering unprecedented insight into the Indian export market.

The firm entered the challenging market of India five years ago after recognising a demand for its product offering, and is now stressing the importance of utilising the experience and support of local bodies such as the NECC to fully understand market approaches and strategies.

Brendan Quill, Sales and Marketing Director for Miller UK said: “The NECC and UKTI have been vital in helping our company to forge connections with Indian contacts as well as offering ongoing support throughout our entire export journey.

“India is a large and complex market, and I would always advise that businesses make good use of the endless knowledge and connections of chambers and programmes such as Access India offer to fully understand the market they plan to enter.”

Brendan, alongside other representatives from Miller UK, will be attending the free ‘Selling to India’ event hosted by Access India, which aims to help North East companies realise the importance of looking beyond obvious commercial centres towards other regional capitals.

He continued: “We are now strengthening our presence and have an Indian national representative based there permanently. We are also viewing premises for new warehouse space and are recruiting three highly qualified engineers to start up a technical centre in Bangalore. It’s been a great experience so far, which we expect to become even better in the future.”

Nynzi Muang, International Market Development Executive and leader of the Access India programme said: “Miller UK is a good example of a company that has successfully chosen India as the first country to enter into international export relations with, due to its often complex customs.

“Our free ‘Selling to India’ event will help businesses look beyond India’s immediately obvious commercial centres to source success in regions that offer stronger opportunities and weaker competition.”

Taking place on Tuesday 03 March 2015, from 8.30am to 1pm at Durham’s Aykley Heads Business Centre, the Access North East event will offer attendees presentations, case study examples and information on opportunities from the IT, life sciences and manufacturing sectors.

Pre-bookable one-to-one surgeries with Ayun Narayan, Head of UK India Business Council (UKBIC) office in Bangalore, Steve Toogood, Director of UKBIC and Stephen Muir, International Trade Advisor for UKTI North East will offer North East exporters vital support and advice on market entry strategies, as well as reassuring common fears.

The event is free to attend and spaces are limited so to register, please contact gemma.bainbridge@necc.co.uk or call 0845 7688330.
