North East Children’s Charity Celebrates Volunteers

Screen Shot 2016-06-10 at 15.42.07Children North East welcomed its volunteers to Sage Gateshead on Tuesday 7th June to celebrate their contribution of 10,886 hours donated to the charity over the year meaning a contribution of £72,936* over the year.
Several volunteers shared their own stories and motivations for donating their time including Jason Roberts, who successfully completed 7 iron man triathlons in 7 days from Land’s End to John O’Groats, raising over £18,000 for Children North East.
Jason said: “In order to have belief in yourself you must be supported and motivated by others who also believe in you. This is what got me through my challenge and I know that the brilliant team of volunteers at Children North East inspire the children and families that they work with to believe in themselves too. When the going gets tough having someone to look you in the eyes and tell you they believe in you is really powerful”.
Volunteers from across Children North East’s projects received awards from Jeremy Cripps, Children North East Chief Executive, who commented: “Our volunteers work tirelessly to provide services to people most in need and for that we thank them. Without their hard work and dedication, alongside our staff and the fantastic support of the People’s Postcode Lottery, our organisation wouldn’t be able to achieve the huge impact that we do.”
Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK – and it’s taking place from the 1-12 June 2016.
