The principal dentist of a renowned North East dental and skincare group has been chosen to join a prestigious global dental organisation.

Mr Onkar Dhanoya, principal dental surgeon at The Honour Health Group, incorporating three practices in Jesmond, Stanley and Ponteland, has been awarded a Fellowship by the International College of Dentists (ICD).

The ICD is a leading international honour society for dentists, and is based in Michigan, USA. It was founded in 1920 and has more than 12,000 members in 122 countries across the world.

Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only, and a nominated dentist must pass a rigorous, peer review process, leading to recognition of the individual’s professional achievement, service and dedication to the continued progress of dentistry.

Mr Dhanoya, who has practiced dentistry for more than 30 years, having graduated from Newcastle Dental School at Newcastle University in 1985, has been chosen to become a Fellow of the ICD in recognition of the extensive contribution he has made to the field of dentistry throughout his career.

He was officially inducted into the College at a recent ceremony in London, along with fellow graduate Mr Anil Shrestha, who graduated in 1992 from Newcastle Dental School. They join a third member of Newcastle Dental School’s alumni, Mr Tushar Patel, who graduated in 1983, and became a Fellow of the ICD last year.

Since 1995, Mr Dhanoya has continued his association with Newcastle Dental School, and he is a clinical tutor for undergraduates.

Mr Dhanoya said: “It is a great honour to be invited to join such an esteemed organisation as the International College of Dentists, and I am thankful for this recognition.

“This is a very exciting time for our team, as we have changed our name from the Osborne Dental Group to Honour Health, to better reflect the advanced range of dental and skin treatments we provide. This recognition from the ICD is a great boost as we approach the end of what has been a very successful year, which has included the expansion of our team and the growth of our skin department. We are looking forward to developing the Honour Health brand even further in 2018.”

Honour Health provides a range of NHS and private dental treatments including dental health assessments, mouth hygiene packages, teeth whitening, Invisalign, aesthetic dentistry and orthodontics.

Skin treatments include laser hair removal, chemical peels, plasma facials, muscle relaxants, dermal fillers, edermastamp and cosmeceuticals.
