Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Billie RaymondDrag acts from the past and present are returning to their native North East for a special night of glitz and glamour.

More than 10 performers from across the region will be taking to the stage for Dragged Through The Generations at Boulevard cabaret club, Newcastle on Sunday July 10.

The third annual event, in aid of leading LGBT charity, Northern Pride, will feature appearances by a range of established acts, including Newcastle star Beverley Hills, who now headlines in Gran Canaria and Billie Raymond, who has been entertaining audiences for more than 30 years.

It will also showcase a range of new and emerging talent, such as the winner of Drag Idol 2016, Octavia Die.

Boulevard’s resident host, Miss Rory, will be compering the evening and is looking forward to welcoming back some familiar faces.

“Dragged Through The Generations will feature a number of experienced drag artists who haven’t performed in their native North East for a number of years,” she said.

“This is a great opportunity to see those stars, as well as the region’s current crop of high end talent, and raise money for charity at the same time.”

Proceeds from Dragged Through the Generations will be used to help fund Northern Pride’s annual Newcastle Pride festival, which returns with a host of free entertainment and family-friendly activities for summer 2016.

This includes a weekend of live music at Newcastle Town Moor on July 16 and 17, with headline performances by Heather Small and 5ive.

Mark Nichols, Chair or Northern Pride, said: “Newcastle Pride is a key event for the North East and the wider LGBT community, helping to promote mutual respect and encourage inclusivity.

“This year’s festival will be bigger than ever and fundraising events such as Dragged Through The Generations are vital in ensuring it remains free to attend.”
