North East Equality Awards Celebrates its 12th Anniversary

Now in their 12th year, the North East Equality Awards celebrates outstanding equality and diversity practices across the public, private and not for profit sectors.

Andrea Johnson, head of operations at Equality North East, is responsible for organising the awards.

She said: “It is important to recognise the achievements of local organisations, individuals and groups in embedding inclusivity through equality and diversity in day to day working practices leading the way to a fairer future for all.”

There are categories appropriate to companies of all sizes as well as individuals and groups. These include:

  • Organisations of up to 50 staff
  • Organisations between 51 and 250 staff
  • Educational & Training Organisations of up to 50 staff
  • Educational & Training Organisations of over 50 staff
  • Larger Organisations Making a Difference in the Community
  • Individuals Who Have Made a Difference
  • Groups Who Have Made a Difference
  • The TUC – unionlearn Award
  • Organisations Supporting Disabled People into Employment

Closing date for applications is Friday August 14, 2015. Equality North East will be hosting support days for applicants to receive guidance and advice on completing applications.

Following the judging process, winners will be announced at the Awards dinner scheduled to take place at the Gosforth Marriott Hotel on Thursday October 29, 2015.
