North East Football Clubs Score Support from Miller Homes

MILLER Homes is continuing to back grassroots sport in Northumberland after being unveiled as the latest supporter of two North East football clubs.

Bedlington Terriers FC, which plays its home games at Doctor Pit Welfare Park near to Miller Homes’ Broadoaks development, and Blyth FC, based at Cowpen Park close to its Portland Wynd site, have both received much-needed funding from the leading housebuilder.

Blyth FC has used its sponsorship to fund new away strips for the 2017/18 season, while Bedlington Terriers FC will use its funding to enhance the club’s facilities including completing essential repairs to the clubhouse’s roof and fencing.

Andrew Somerville, regional sales manager at Miller Homes North East, said: “Grassroots sports clubs are often at the very heart of their local communities and provide important opportunities for people to stay fit and healthy. With reduced funding available to the clubs, we felt it was important for us to offer our support to help ensure the future of their teams.

“We are committed to strengthening our relationships with the communities surrounding our developments in Northumberland, by supporting great organisations such as Blyth FC and Bedlington Terriers FC. We wish both clubs every success for the season ahead.”

Nathan Parr, club chairman at Blyth FC, said: “It is the backing of companies such as Miller Homes which allows us to continue supporting our surrounding communities. Sponsorship deals make a huge difference to the club, and on behalf of everyone at Blyth FC, I’d like to say a big thank you.”

Ronan Liddane, Bedlington Terriers FC’s chairman, added: “Miller Homes’ backing of Bedlington Terriers FC will make such a difference to the club.

“In addition to the physical improvements which we’ll be able to make at Doctor Pit Welfare Park thanks to the funding provided by Miller Homes, our local community will also be able to continue to benefit from free use of the ground for a range of events including family fun days, music events and functions.”

Passionate about creating sustainable communities, Miller Homes has four developments located across South East Northumberland including Portland Wynd in Blyth, Broadoaks in Bedlington, Barley Meadows in Cramlington and Wheatfields in Seaton Delaval.
