STUDENTS who will be missing out on their official graduation ceremony can still capture the moment – thanks to a new scheme launched by a North East photography studio.
GA Photography, based at Sunderland’s the Bridges, will be re-opening its doors when the shopping centre is fully reinstated on 15 June.
And it is offering a social distancing graduation shoot for anyone finishing their course at Sunderland University and wants professional imagery to mark the occasion.
The studio has also joined forced with Churchill Gowns, which hires out caps and gowns to graduating students, which will offer anyone getting their photographs taken a 10 per cent discount.
“We know a lot of students are going to miss out on their graduation ceremony so we wanted to create something where they could still have a special memory of the day,” said Amy Drummond, one of the co-owners of GA Photography.
“We’ve created packages where students can be photographed on their own or with family members, in a socially distanced setting.”
The shoot costs £40 for the graduate alone or £60 including family members, which includes three 8 inches x 6 inches prints.
Digital images and extra prints can be purchased after the shoot via an online gallery which the student will be given access to.
Gowns and mortar boards will need to be hired in advance of the shoot and Amy is advising anyone taking part to ensure it arrives two days before the shoot and then can be returned afterwards.
“We will provide the Sunderland University hood featuring university colours and for graduates to wear with their gowns. This has been gifted to us by Churchills and is not currently available online,” said Amy.
Shoots will be by appointment only and can be booked at firstname.lastname@example.org or via Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/gaphotographysunderland or by calling Amy directly on 07950 591121.
