South Gosforth’s “Balmoral Physiotherapy” has just joined a national group with its recent acquisition by Therapy Direct Healthcare. Businesses and patients in the area are set to benefit from a range of new healthcare solutions as well as the traditional customer service values for which it is already popular.

The news will be welcomed by the local business sector and the whole community.

“We’re thrilled. Balmoral gives us a larger presence in the North East,” says Ross Tomkins, owner and MD of Therapy Direct Healthcare. “We can employ more people in the area and help more businesses that are based here, offering their teams top healthcare that’s designed especially for them.”

Ross, who studied Physiotherapy at the University of Teesside, brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh outlook to Balmoral. As well as his position as MD at Therapy Direct Healthcare, he founded The Advanced Health Group and co-founded CF360, a company which offers medically led health and fitness retreats to destinations around the world.
“We’ve always been well-known for our patient-centred approach to care,” he says. “The team at South Gosforth is highly talented and we’re excited to welcome them into our growing portfolio of health businesses.”

The acquisition was due to the initiative of Barry Gill, owner and MD of With his experience as a corporate finance advisor, Barry set up the successful enterprise two and a half years ago to help business owners and entrepreneurs in the region to buy and sell businesses without prohibitive costs.

Within twelve hours of the advert going live, two interested buyers contacted the website – one of whom was Ross.

“We’re careful to use targeted social media marketing and an active approach to our finding the right buyers. Ross responded to the Balmoral Physiotherapy advert and he met with the vendors within a week to discuss the sale.”
