Children can now star in their own personalised story thanks to Newcastle-based Bang on Books, bringing magic and adventure to kids worldwide through reading.

Bang on Books create bespoke hand illustrated stories where children can step into their own adventure and become the lead character in the book. With three tales to choose from, including Christmas story ‘Santa Socks’ that will debut this festive season, there’s a captivating experience to suit everyone.

Simon Davidson, the founder and CEO of Bang on Books, said: “Bang on Books is the ultimate experience that I wish had been available when I was a young boy growing up. The idea of being the star of your own story, and seeing yourself, as an illustration in an exciting tale, is something really special.

“I’ve always had a passion for children’s books, both the bizarre storylines and the quirky illustrations, and as a dad of two, making up stories is something that comes naturally to me. The idea of Bang on Books came about after realising there is real opportunity here. Personalised children’s books can help to bridge the widening gap that technology is wedging in between youngsters and traditional ways of experiencing adventure.

“Children’s books shape the way we see the world and by allowing children to step into the pages of the story, we are opening up a whole world of adventure, excitement and escapism that is so important when we are growing up.”

Featuring 42 pages of colourful illustrations and text, the three books (Unicorn Oo, The Golden Key and Santa Socks) are finished to a luxury standard with high quality material and silver or gold foil detail. With only two major competitors in the world, Bang on Books’ unique hand illustrated drawings bring an exquisite element to the bespoke book rather than industry standard digital illustrations, making each book feel even more special. Through global delivery, these bespoke books can reach the hands of customers worldwide, putting smiles on millions of faces.

Simon added: “Each story starts with a magic mirror, which is where the child’s photo appears. The photo then transforms into one of 12 illustrated characters, which is chosen to reflect the star of the story, creating the ultimate personalised experience. The Child’s name is also referenced throughout the entire story, adding to the customised adventure.”

Bang on Books is the sister company to Bang on Print & Design, also founded and owned by Simon. Through personal and internal funding from Bang on Print & Design, Simon has invested over £20,000 in the past 12 months to make Bang on Books the success it is today.

Simon continued: “Our close-knit team consists of illustrator Hannah Walton, graphic designer Connor Brady and myself. Everything we produce is in-house, and I am really proud that a North East company is firing children’s imaginations around the globe.

Each book from Bang on Books is priced at £17.99 and can be purchased from www.bangonbooks.co.uk.
