North East Site Managers Awarded Prestigious Industry Accolade

house awards largeTwo Miller Homes North East site managers are celebrating after receiving Quality Awards in the first round of the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards.

Paul Ritchie, site manager at Miller Homes’ Wheatfields development in Seaton Delaval, and John Harrison, site manager at Miller Homes’ Portland Wynd development in Blyth, were amongst 12 Miller Homes site managers across the UK to be recognised by the national awards.

Now in their 36th year, the Pride in the Job Awards praise those site managers who have excelled in achieving the highest quality and safety standards in housebuilding. Every housebuilder registered under the NHBC Buildmark is entered into the competition, with site managers rigorously assessed during the various stages of the competition.

Site managers are assessed across 37 areas of site management, including leadership, consistency in the build process, technical knowledge, quality controls and health and safety.

Commenting on his success, Paul said: “I’m really pleased to have been recognised again by the NHBC for my work. This is my seventh consecutive Quality Award and I have my fingers crossed that I will be awarded my sixth Seal of Excellence at the second stage of the awards later this year.”

John added: “I’m proud to have been awarded this sought-after accolade by the NHBC. As part of The Miller Difference we strive to exceed our customers’ expectations and to be identified for the quality of homes we are building is testament to this.”

Chris Endsor, chief executive of Miller Homes, said: “We are extremely proud of our award-winning site managers. The Pride in the Job Awards are highly respected within the industry and this acknowledgement of our winning site managers’ commitment and dedication to ensuring our homes are built safely and to the highest standards is a tremendous accolade for each of them as well as for the wider business.”

Mike Quinton, chief executive of NHBC, said: “Congratulations to all of the 2016 Quality Award winners. For 36 years, our Pride in the Job Awards have played a pivotal role in NHBC’s work to raise standards across the industry through the celebration and sharing of best practice.

“Pride in the Job rewards those site managers who produce the best new homes which are built and finished to the highest possible standard. Most importantly, homeowners who buy a Pride in the Job award-winning home benefit from a high quality product.

“It’s no surprise that our data shows Pride in the Job winning sites have higher levels of customer satisfaction as these homes are without doubt among the best the UK has to offer.  On behalf of everyone at NHBC, I would like to congratulate them on this wonderful achievement.”

Later on this year, the winners of the Quality Awards will take part in the next round of the competition, hoping to achieve a coveted Seal of Excellence Award as well as competing for the regional title. The regional winners will then go forward to compete for the national Supreme Winner title in their category at the Pride in the Job Gala, taking place in London in January.
