Sally Balcombe, CEO of VisitBritain and VisitEngland, said: “Awards for Excellence finalists exemplify outstanding tourism talent and distinguished businesses throughout England.
“We received over 400 truly impressive applications this year and there’s absolutely no doubt those shortlisted are representatives of the best in the industry who place delivering an unforgettable experience to visitors in England at the heart of their business operations. I’d like to congratulate all finalists and wish them the very best of luck on Awards night at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.”
St Cuthbert’s House B&B join Alex MacLennan who was announced as a finalist in the prestigious Tourism Superstar award in January. Alex is the Recreation & Public Affairs Manager for the Forestry Commission in the North East, who has championed mountain biking at Kielder Water & Forest Park to make Kielder one of the best mountain biking experiences in England.
Jude Leitch, Director of Northumberland Tourism, said: “We are delighted to see Northumberland represented in the 2016 Visit England Awards for Excellence. Our tourism offering is developing year on year, so it is great to see this recognised nationally.
Given the quality of entries to these national awards, it really must be admired that St Cuthbert’s House has been nominated in two categories. As past winners of VisitEngland’s Best B&B of the Year, it shows they are consistently offering excellence year on year.
It is also wonderful to see Alex MacLennan nominated in the Tourism Superstar award. Alex is a great ambassador for Northumberland and a great Northumberland character so I am delighted that he has been shortlisted.
We wish St Cuthbert’s House and Alex MacLennan every success in the 2016 VisitEngland Awards.”
