Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

OCUCON NAMED FSB DIGITAL INNOVATION AWARD WINNER AS NORTH EAST ENJOYS STRONG PERFORMANCE

North East-based surveillance technology company – Ocucon – has been named the FSB’s Digital Innovation Award Winner for 2019 at a prestigious awards ceremony in London on Thursday 23rd May.

The world’s first Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS) system – Ocucon – scooped first prize after being named a finalist in the North East region heats in March, seeing off competition from eleven other finalists from across the UK.

During the evening, North East businesses demonstrated a strong performance. Alongside Crafter’s Companion and Flame Heating Group, Ocucon was one of three North East businesses to win awards across eleven categories.

Ocucon Business Development Manager, Simon Gardner commented after the ceremony: “We’re honoured to have been awarded the FSB’s Digital Innovation Award. It’s been a tremendous eighteen months for Ocucon since we launched at the end of 2017, including a number of innovative new product launches, and we’ve generated significant interest from major retailers and businesses across the UK and North America as a result. We’re proud to have been able to represent the many North East-based companies and individuals who are pushing the boundaries of digital and technological innovation.

Award judges recognised Ocucon’s ability to revolutionise the way in which businesses defend against crime, combat fraudulent insurance claims and enable greater use of video analytics, by removing the physical limitations placed on the amount of surveillance footage businesses can save. The award win comes only weeks after Ocucon was named the Most Innovative Retail Asset Protection business by the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) in the US.

Breaking new ground in surveillance technology, Ocucon is the first technology of its kind to offer unlimited cloud-based storage as a service. Combining intelligent data analytics with the facility to store, analyse and retrieve unlimited amounts of HD video surveillance footage from within the Ocucon portal, it revolutionises the way in which retailers defend against crime, combat fraudulent insurance clams, and utilise post-recording video analytics for enhanced loss prevention and business insights.

Ocucon recently announced that it will provide free upgrades of all CCTV hardware to customers of its standard cloud-based storage package, as it launched a first-of-its-kind zero capital expenditure model in the surveillance industry.
