Okoro re-signs as another Lions returnee

London Lions have confirmed that Londoner, Jerelle Okoro will return for a full season in the capital having joined the club in March of last season.

Despite joining late in the season, Okoro seemed to slot quickly into the Lions’ system as his athleticism saw him play the wing spots and averaged 5 points per game on 43% shooting from the bench.

An alumnus of Hackney Community College, Okoro moved to Leicester where he completed his university studies. The 27-year-old then joined the Manchester Giants for the 2015-16 season where he was one of the bright lights.

Lions boss, Vince Macaulay said: “Jerelle is a real asset, he brings strength and toughness as well as athleticism, he works very hard and defensively I think he will grow a lot this year.”

Okoro added: “I want to get better every day and the environment here is helping me do that, I’m ready for the season.”

Okoro is the fifth returnee alongside Justin Robinson, Joe Ikhinmwin, Brandon Peel and Paul Guede
with newcomers Jordan Spencer and Kervin Bristol joining the squad.

Fans will get to see the team for the first time at the Essex Classic at Brentwood Leisure Centre on 8-9 September with bookings made through leopardsbasketball.co.uk with promo code LIONS20 for a 20% discount.
