Ouseburn Farm launches Easter activity programme with sponsored Chicken Run

Ouseburn Farm Charity has launched its Easter activity programme with the announcement of a 2K family-friendly sponsored walk, ‘Chicken Run’.

Starting and finishing at the farm, there will be two routes available that will wind around the Ouseburn Valley, taking in all the local sites and attractions along the way.

The event will be held on Saturday, 13 April 2019 at 11.00am and children and adults are invited to dress up in their finest feathers and chicken costumes. The event, in association with Lintz Hall Farm in Gateshead, will also see special guests George and Georgina – the hen and egg mascots who helped to officially launch the event this morning.

Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and refreshments will be provided by the Cumberland Arms, also in the Ouseburn Valley. Maps will be provided and the route will be clearly marked and marshalled along the route. There is also a step-free route for those with pushchairs or mobility issues.

The cost will be £10 per adult or £25 for the family and the farm requests that you pledge to raise sponsorship, which will go towards the upkeep of the farm and the work it does to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all.

Newcastle Puppetry Festival will also be at the farm on Saturday 13 April to mesmerise visitors with their outdoor performances for all the family. These are free to attend – please check their website for performance times: www.newcastlepuppetryfestival.co.uk

Places for the Chicken Run must be purchased in advance and are available from the Ouseburn Farm website at www.ouseburnfarm.org/events/chicken-run-3

Ouseburn Farm is free to enter and will be open during the Easter Holidays. Meet our newest spring arrivals including lambs, piglets, chicks and ducklings before taking a walk around our gardens and orchard. Our café will be serving delicious homemade food to satisfy any taste buds along with beautiful cakes, ice cream and hot drinks.

Donations to the farm are always welcome.
