Overnight road resurfacing work is to be carried out at Bishop Auckland.

Durham County Council is to resurface the C130 Watling Road/A688 Fylands Drive roundabout for the benefit of all who drive in the area.

The work will take place from Sunday 25 September until Friday 30 September, from 7pm to 7am each day.

Alternate halves of the roundabout will be closed while the work is carried out, with traffic flow to be controlled by three way lights.

Either the northern half of the roundabout and its Watling Road junction will be closed, or the southern half and its junction with the A688.

Signposted diversions will be in place while sections of the roundabout are closed and there will be some disruption to bus services.

John Reed, the council’s head of technical services, said: “This work is part of our ongoing programme to maintain the road network across the county, for the benefit of all users.

“We are doing all we can to minimise disruption – including carrying out the work overnight – and we thank motorists in advance for their patience while it is being done.”
