North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Picnic Gin 2An independent North East distillery is raising a glass to National Picnic Week with its new, limited edition gin.

Poetic License, based at the Best Western Roker Hotel, Sunderland, has been inundated with demand from across the UK since launching its Strawberries and Cream Picnic Gin at the end of May.

Now staff at the small batch distillery, which crafts and packages its award-winning spirits entirely by hand, are working around the clock to ensure all orders are distributed in time for National Picnic Week 2016.

The week, which runs until Sunday (June 19), is designed to encourage families to embrace the picnicking tradition and to offer helpful tips and advice on where to go and what to pack.

For many people, Poetic License hope that this will include a serving of Strawberries and Cream Picnic Gin, which is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK.

Mark Hird, owner of Poetic License, said: “Picnicking is one of the UK’s most popular traditions and offers the ideal opportunity for people to get together on a chequered blanket and enjoy everything on offer in the great outdoors.

“What better way to take in all that spectacular scenery, than with some nice sandwiches and a glass of Strawberries and Cream Picnic Gin?”

Poetic License Strawberries and Cream Picnic Gin (37.5%), designed to be served with a premium elderflower tonic water or as a fruit cup with lemonade and mixed berries, is both distilled and infused with strawberries and cream to ensure a stronger, fruiter flavour.

It is the first in a series of limited edition offerings being temporarily added to Poetic License’s core range, which currently includes the award-winning Old Tom Gin and Northern Dry Gin, as well as Graceful Vodka.

Subject to availability, the brand’s new seasonal spirit is now being served in the usual Poetic License stockists around the UK, including the aqua shard* restaurant, London.

It is also available to buy in bottles, while stocks last, viapoeticlicensedistillery.co.uk and from the reception at the Best Western Roker Hotel, priced at £32.50.
