Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Screen Shot 2016-05-24 at 13.07.35Continuing their proud tradition of promoting within their team, and dedicating resources to developing their staff, award-winning, Sunderland-based technology company, Pebbletree Ltd, last week moved to appoint Laura Marriner as their new Commercial Director.

Having joined the company in 2012 as a Finance Assistant, Laura is approaching her fourth year at Pebbletree. During this time, she has seen her role develop and evolve within the business, as additional services and brands were launched by Pebbletree, including cloud-based contact centre management system, Quvu, and virtual receptionist (VR) solution, Simply66, with which Laura was given the responsibility of Acting Team Leader.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2015, Pebbletree was named ‘Employer of the Year’ at the Echo Portfolio Business Awards in November, a testament to how the team functions, according to Managing Director, Janni Thornton:

“We launched Pebbletree knowing that if we treated our staff right, we could build a successful company where people would want to come and work.”

As the business continued to grow around her, Laura’s hard work was recognised with a move into a supervisory role, overseeing both the VR team and Finance teams; as she explains:

“Pebbletree is ever-evolving. There is always something happening or something new in the pipeline – every day is completely different!

“The environment is one where all members of staff have an input in the business, and their ideas and suggestions are always considered. The culture here creates a happy team and everyone really does get along, it’s a great team of people to work alongside.”

With their VoIP telephony brand, Soho66, being named ‘Best Business ITSP (Small Enterprise) at the recent ITSPA awards, there is an air of expectancy at Pebbletree, with continued development and innovation providing further opportunity for staff development – and promotions such as that of Laura.

She added: “I am absolutely thrilled at the opportunity of this new role, it’s hard to believe that I am in this position now after such a short period. Part of the culture here is to promote within the business and personal development of our staff is something that I can personally say works as my time here has proved – hopefully this will continue for years to come!”
