Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

PUB grub and picky bits are the order of the day at one of Ryton’s most popular pubs.

Chefs at The Runhead, Holburn Lane, have unveiled their new spring summer menu and it is packed with everything from snacks and sandwiches to burgers, classics and steaks.

Among the highlights are a revamped starters section which now includes picky bits – such as baked mozzarella sticks, nachos, garlic bread and dirty fries – for drinkers who fancy a snack rather than a full meal.

For the smaller appetite or lunch goers there are light bites and sandwiches, from Chinese-style duck wraps to classic cheese and pickle or fish finger sandwiches and a new vegan wrap, filled with roasted vegetables, hummus and picked onions.

A trio of salads – vegan, Thai noodle or classic Caesar – is also on offer while the pub’s ever popular grill section is serving up a feast of meats including gammon, loaded chicken, lamb kebabs and a variety of steaks.

And, for those with particularly large appetites, the Runhead Signature Grill comprises an assortment of meats from the main menu served with American-style dirty fries.

The venue, owned by Malhotra Group plc, has also revitalised its pub grub offering, which now features classics such as bangers and mash, steak and mushroom pie and fish and chips, alongside Italian favourite such as lasagne, pizza and pasta.

Manager James Watters said: “We really pride ourselves on the variety and quality of the food we serve and the fact that so much of our business is return custom is proof that we’re getting it right.

“This new menu is one of our best yet because we’re keeping it simple with tried and tested favourites that everyone likes – no gimmicks, just great tasting food.”

The new menu is available from 12 noon until 9pm Monday to Saturday and 12 noon until 8pm on Sunday.
