The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 6 July but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
A19 Silverlink, North Tyneside
There will be full overnight carriageway closures north and southbound between Howden/Wallsend junction and Holystone junction from Tuesday 10 and Friday 13 July from 8pm until 6am. There will be overnight carriageway closures north and southbound between Howden/Wallsend junction and Silverlink junction between 8pm and 6am on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 July and again on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 July. The A1058 eastbound will be closed over the Silverlink junction between 8pm and 6am from Tuesday 10 until Thursday 12 July. Traffic will be diverted using the slip roads. There will also be a 24 hour 30mph speed restriction with narrow lanes. This project is due for completion in March 2019.
A19 Holystone, North Tyneside
There will be a 24 hour closure of the designated lane on the northbound exit slip road until Sunday 9 December for Local Authority development work.
A19 Wellfield
There will be overnight closures of the southbound carriageway between the A182 at Wellfield and the A179 at Sheraton for resurfacing work. The closures will be in place on Sunday 15 July between 8pm and 6am. Work is due to finish on Friday 27 July. Clearly signed diversions will be in place.
A1 junction 70 to junction 73, Gateshead
There will be overnight slip road closures between junction 70 and junction 73 for resurfacing work. On Monday 9 July until Wednesday 11 July from 8pm until 6am there will be a southbound entry slip road closure at junction 72. From Wednesday 11 July to Friday 13 July, 8pm to 6am, there will be a northbound exit slip road closure at junction 72. And on Friday 13 July there will be a southbound entry slip road closure at junction 71. This project is due for completion on Thursday 19 July.
A1M junction 59 to junction 60, County Durham
There will be full overnight carriageway closures from junction 59 to junction 60 on the northbound carriageway from Monday 9 July between 8pm and 6am for 4 weeks. The northbound exit slip road at junction 60 and the northbound entry slip road at junction 59 will also be closed. Outside these hours, there are 24 hour lane 2 closures in place, with drivers using the hard shoulder and lane 1 under a 50mph speed restriction, north and southbound between junctions 59 to junction 60, for concrete barrier installation work. Clearly signed diversions will be in place, using the A167.
A1M junction 49 Ripon to Healam Bridge, North Yorkshire
There is a daytime closure of the northbound carriageway between 6am and 8pm with all traffic running in contraflow on the southbound carriageway between junction 49 and junction 50. Overnight there will be closures of the northbound carriageway between junction 50 and 51 from Monday 9 July to Sunday 15 July from for carriageway resurfacing work. This project is due for completion on Wednesday 7 November.
A1M junction 52 to junction 53 Catterick, North Yorkshire
There will be a full closure north and southbound on Saturday 14 July from 8pm until 6am for remedial work.
A66 West Cross Lanes, North Yorkshire
There will be overnight traffic signals east and westbound from Cross Lanes to Rokeby between Thursday 12 July and Saturday 14 July from 8pm until 6am for horticultural work.
A66 West Browson Bank, North Yorkshire
There will be overnight traffic signals east and westbound from Browson Bank to Dalton on Friday 13 July from 8pm until 6am for horticultural work.
