The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 6 September but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
A1 Fenwick to Haggerston, Northumberland
There will be overnight closures northbound and southbound from Fenwick to Haggerston from Monday 9 to Sunday 14 September from 8pm until 6am with clearly signed diversions in place. The work for resurfacing is due to be completed in November.
A1 Belford, Northumberland
There will be temporary traffic signals in place overnight northbound south of Belford on Tuesday 10 September from 8pm until 6am for survey work.
A1 Warenford, Northumberland
There will be temporary traffic signals in place overnight northbound from Warenford to Purdy Lodge on Monday 9 September from 8pm until 6am for survey work.
A1 junction 65 to junction 67, Gateshead
There will be overnight closures of the southbound carriageway from junction 67 to junction 65 with the exit and entry slip roads closed from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 September from 8pm until 6am with local diversions in place for resurfacing work. This project is due for completion on Monday 30 September.
A19 Silverlink, North Tyneside
There will be overnight closures of the southbound carriageway from Silverlink to Holystone and northbound from Silverlink to Howden on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 September from 8pm until 6am with local diversions in place for improvement work.
A19/A184 Testos, South Tyneside
There will be an extended northbound carriageway closure from 8pm Friday 13 until 6am on Monday 16 September from Hylton to Testos roundabout. There will also be a permanent lane closure on the roundabout with two lanes running on the approaches for junction improvement work. This project is due for completion in December 2021.
A66 Hulands to Carkin Moor, North Yorkshire
There will be temporary traffic lights in place overnight between Hulands and Carkin Moor eastbound and westbound from Monday 9 to Friday 13 September from 8pm until 6am for horticultural work.
A1M junction 51 to junction 50 Leeming, North Yorkshire.
There will be a 24-hour contraflow with traffic travelling in both directions on the southbound carriageway from junction 51 to junction 50. The northbound carriageway is closed for resurfacing work. This phase of work is due for completion on Monday 16 September. The overall project is due for completion in January 2020.
A19 Portrack roundabout
The roundabout and associated slip roads will be closed overnight from Monday 9 September between 9pm and 6am for resurfacing work. This scheme is due for completion on Wednesday 25 September.
